McDonald Announces 2022 Signing Class

Three more players from Palmetto State set to join Carolina next fall

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina men’s golf announced its full 2022 signing class on Friday with the addition of three players in the early signing period. Zach Adams (Charleston, S.C.), Walker Jennings (Greenville, S.C.) and Luke Sullivan (Columbia, S.C.) all signed National Letters of Intent to join the Gamecock golf family earlier this week.

“I am very excited to announce our 2022 recruiting class,” said head coach Bill McDonald. “All three young men are from great families and their golf games are only trending upward. This class, just like the 2021 class last year, all hail from the Palmetto State and a large part of that reason is the great job assistant coach, Ben Dietrich, does recruiting our state. Year in, and year out, the South Carolina Golf Association provides great tournament experiences for these kids to compete and develop their games. It’s also been a challenging time recruiting with the long dead period we just went through, and I’m very appreciative to these recruits and their families for remaining patient with us throughout the process.”

He made a commitment to the gym and getting his full swing better and that hard work really paid off this past year. Zach has recently committed to practicing more efficiently and also to tournament preparation which should really help him transition to collegiate golf.”

McDonald on Jennings:
“I really have to thank Walker for being patient with us during the dead period because I wasn’t able to watch him play. His swing coach, Daniel Seawell, is a former Gamecock golfer and he was instrumental in keeping me updated on his progress. Walker really impressed me with his golf swing mechanics and how he handles himself on the course. Walker is a big, strong kid and he has a tremendous upside.”

McDonald on Sullivan:
“I have been hearing about Luke for years. His high school coach at A.C. Flora, Robert Dargan, is a former Gamecock golfer and he’s been praising Luke’s talent for a while now. Luke is gritty and fights his tail off. He’s very talented and should really mold into form as his body gets stronger and more developed. He has impressed me with his ability to handle adversity and he’s extremely competitive.”
