Fournand Leads, No. 6 South Carolina T-3rd at Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. — No. 6 South Carolina fired an opening round 291 (+3) at the Landfall Tradition on Friday and sits two shots out of first place. Junior transfer Justine Fournand is the 18-hole leader by a shot after posting an impressive bogey free 67 (-5).
 
The Erstein, France, native made the turn at 3-under with a pair of red numbers on holes 11 and 13 coming into the clubhouse.  
 
It’s a bunched leaderboard at Country Club of Landfall’s Dye Course with 11 teams within eight shots of leader No. 15 Michigan, who shot 289 (+1).
 
Redshirt senior Tai Anudit shot 74 (+2) with a trio of birdies on the front nine. Junior Mathilde Claisse and freshman Lousie Rydqvist each shot 75 (+3) to round out the counting scores for the Gamecocks. Freshman Hannah Darling shot 76 (+4) and sophomore Paula Kirner shot 75 (+3) playing as individual for the second time this fall.
 
South Carolina will be paired with the Wolverines and No. 4 Virginia for Saturday’s second round. Darling will lead things off at 10:09 a.m. (ET) from hole one.
