COLUMBIA, S.C. – USC junior Jenny Lake ran to a seventh place finish with a six-kilometer time of 22:13 at the SEC Cross Country Championships held in Athens, Ga. Lake’s seventh place finish is the best finish ever by a Gamecock runner at the SEC Championships and earned her first team All-SEC. A native of Geneseo, Ill, Lake ran with the lead group throughout the entire race at the University Club Course on the campus of UGA.

South Carolina’s young team fielded by four freshmen, two juniors and one senior placed 10th overall. Freshmen Karen Wigal crossed the line in 49th position. A trio of runners consisting of Mary Wright, Christine Mudd and Tristan Rackow finished 68th, 69th and 70th, respectively. Tennessee claimed first place as a team and sophomore Angela Homan of Auburn claimed top individual honors.

The Gamecocks will next travel to Greenville, N.C. on Saturday, Nov. 15th to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional.
