McDonald Announces 2021-22 Schedule

COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina men’s golf announced its 2021-22 schedule on Tuesday. The Gamecocks will play in nine regular season events, five in the fall and four in the spring.
 
“We always make an effort to schedule strong competition and a variety of golf courses,” said head coach Bill McDonald. “I think we’ve accomplished that again, and I look forward to watching our team compete and develop over the course of this season.”
 
Carolina opens its campaign next week at the Scenic City Intercollegiate (Sept. 20-21), which will be hosted at The Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tenn.  The team will then travel to Country Club of Sapphire Valley to make its second appearance at the J.T. Poston Invitational (Sept. 27-28). Senior All-American Ryan Hall is the defending champion at that event, picking up his first collegiate win there in 2019.
 
The Gamecocks will then head east to play in the first ever SEC Match Play at Shoal Creek Club. The inaugural event will feature all 14 SEC teams. Carolina then concludes the fall portion of the schedule with trips to the Isleworth Collegiate (Oct. 17-19 ; formerly the Tavistock Invitational) and the Daniel Island Invitational (Oct. 30-Nov. 1).
 
Carolina opens the spring at the Puerto Rico Classic (Feb. 13-15). The remainder of the schedule is a familiar one with trips to the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate (March 7-8), the General Hackler Championship (March 13-14), the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate (March 27-29) and regular season finale at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational (April 2-3).
 
The SEC Championship (April 20-24) will once again take place at Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course in Saint Simons Island, Ga. with the same match play format that was first introduced in 2017. NCAA Regionals are slated for May 16-18 with the NCAA Championship to follow May 27-June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
