No. 4 Gamecocks Set to Face No. 10 Duke Wednesday
Carolina shot a field-best 278 (-10) on Tuesday to punch its ticket into the third-place match
JUNO BEACH, Fla. – No. 4 South Carolina finished the stroke play portion of the Jackson T. Stephens cup strong on Tuesday with a field-best 278 (-10). All four counting scores fired a red number for the Gamecocks.
Sophomore All-American Hannah Darling led the way with a 68 (-4) that featured five birdies and just one bogey. She finished T-3rd at 5-under (211) which marked her third consecutive top-five finish to start the 2022-23 season.
The senior French duo of Mathilde Claisse and Justine Fournand also carded under par rounds. Fournand shot 69 (-3) and Claisse shot 71 (-1). Graduate transfer Katherine Muzi had a nice bounce back from a tough second round with a 2-under 70 that featured three birdies and just one bogey. Claisse finished T-16th at even par which marked her third-straight top-20 finish to start the 2022-23 season.
Carolina came up six shots shy of catching top-ranked Stanford for a spot in the title match against No. 2 Wake Forest. The Gamecocks will square off with No. 10 Duke in the third-place match on Wednesday at Seminole Golf Club.
Darling will be the first player off on hole one against the Blue Devils at 11:40 a.m. (ET). Sophomore All-American Lousie Rydqvist will play in the anchor match which tees off at 12:20 p.m.
