Women’s Golf Adds Justine Fournand

COLUMBIA, S.C.  –  The University of South Carolina women’s golf team added another international talent with the addition of France native Justine Fournand, head coach Kalen Anderson announced on Monday.

“As soon as I spoke with Coach Anderson, I realized that it was the perfect match for me,” Fournand said of her decision to transfer to South Carolina. “Coach Anderson sold South Carolina as a factory where they build champions and I want to be a champion! I’m very grateful and proud to become a Gamecock. Let the show begin!”

Fournand spent the previous two seasons at Florida Atlantic University, earning C-USA Golfer of the Year as a sophomore in 2021 and C-USA Freshman of the Year accolades in 2020. Fournand notched four wins during her time with the Owls, three of them coming during her sophomore campaign.  

“In our conversations, Justine impressed me with her unique and extremely high motivation level,” Anderson said of her newest Gamecock. “I absolutely love her passion and competitive attitude, and I know that she will thrive in our environment at South Carolina. Having dominated C-USA and competing as a member of the French National Team, I look forward to Justine making a strong impact in our line-up. I am very excited to assist Justine in becoming her best.”

The Erstein, France native tallied a 71.67 scoring average as a sophomore last season, the lowest total in FAU women’s golf history, besting the previous record of 72.90, set by her as a freshman. Fournand was the top finisher in every FAU tournament last season, and tied herself for the second lowest round in FAU history with a 5-under (67).
