Gamecocks Close out Regular Season with Crimson Classic 6K
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (Oct. 13, 2022) – The South Carolina Cross Country squad will get its final preparations for the 2022 Southeastern Championship (Oct. 28) when the Gamecocks travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. tomorrow for the Crimson Classic.
The 2022 Crimson Classic will be the lone 6,000-meter race of the regular season for South Carolina. This will be the first home hosted by Alabama since 2017 as the Crimson Tide will host the event at the Harry Pritchett Running Course. The Gamecocks will toe the line in the 6K beginning at 10:20 a.m. (ET).

PARTICIPATING TEAMS
The Gamecocks will be one of 21 teams competing in Tuscaloosa this weekend. Alongside the Gamecocks, the SEC will be represented by four other schools: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and Mississippi State. Clemson and Florida State also highlight the strong pool of teams this weekend. The Crimson Tide enter the meet ranked sixth overall in the USTFCCA Coaches Poll and first overall in the South Region. Florida State sits 24th in the Coaches Poll and second in the South Region.
GAMECOCK RUNNERS
South Carolina will send 13 runners for the final meet before the SEC Championships. Headlining the Gamecocks this weekend are Anna Boyd, Hope Dominique, Katerina Hendrix, Svenja Sommer, Hayden Withers, Ella Zeigler and SEC Freshman Runner of the Week Gabriella Gait-Smith.
The Crimson Classic 6K will be the first collegiate 6K for eight of the runners this week. Meanwhile Savannah Bowers, Hope Dominique, Katerina Hendrix, Emily Smith, and Lily Weeks have prior personal records in the event.
