Auburn,Ala. – The USC Equestrian team defeated the Auburn Tigers in the varsity format competition in Auburn,Ala. on Saturday, Oct. 25. The final score was 1150.9 to 1112.5 in favor of the Gamecocks.

In Huntseat Equitation, USC won by a score of 280-275. Kelley Campbell led the ten competitors in the event. She also tied Chelsea Koornick in points for the highest score in Huntseat Fences. Rachel Sternoff led the team in western equitation while Laura Pipkin led the team in western reining. Sarah Lowe also contributed with a second place finish in Huntseat Equitation. Elizabeth Briley placed second in Western Equitation and Western Reining.

“There was definite improvement in all areas of our team between the Georgia competition and Auburn so I was very pleased with that,” said Head Coach Duncan. ” We need to carry this momentum into the off season and continue to be successful in the varsity competitions come February.”

The Gamecocks will travel to Judson in Marion, Ala. for an IHSA competition on November 8. Carolina’s next varsity format competition will be Feb. 7, 2004 when USC hosts Kansas State.
