Hall Named PING All-Southeast Region
Second time in his career earning all-region honors, the first coming as a freshman in 2019
NORMAN, Okla. — Junior Ryan Hall was named 2021 PING All-Southeast Region, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced on Saturday. It’s the second time he’s been named PING All-Region, the first honor coming in 2019 as a true freshman alongside All-Americans Will Miles and Scott Stevens shortly after the team punched its ticket to the 2019 NCAA Championship in Fayetteville, Ark.
Hall, the 2021 Albuquerque Regional Champion, has had stellar third season at Carolina. He became just the third regional champion in program history 10 days ago with his one-shot victory at UNM’s Championship Course.
Hall has finished in the top-20 in every start during the 2020-21 season with six top-10s, four top-fives and a pair of wins. His first victory this season (has three career wins) came at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational on Easter Sunday. He shot 202 (-14) with a bogey free 66 (-6) in the second round and a carded final round 64 (-8), chipping in for eagle at the last hole to force a playoff with Pepperdine’s Dylan Menante. Hall made birdie on both playoff holes to win and earn a sponsor exemption into the PGA TOUR’s 3M Open this summer in Blaine, Minn. (July 19-25).
With his win in Augusta, Hall joined Miles and a trio of other All-Americans (Keenan Huskey, Matt NeSmith and Kyle Thompson) as the only five players in program history with multiple wins in the same season.
Hall will add the honor to a batch of other accolades garnered so far this season already including First Team All-SEC recognition, a spot on the U.S. Arnold Palmer Cup Team, a spot on the ballot via the final Haskins Award Watch List and he’s one of five finalists for the Jack Nicklaus Award.
Hall is currently playing in the 2021 NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club. He was in the morning wave today and carded a 2-over 72. Hall is 5-over total through 36 holes of the championship. He won’t know where he stands on the leaderboard until play concludes tonight at around 10 p.m. ET. Live results can be found via Golfstat here.
