Gamecocks Down Berry College in Exhibition Meet
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – The South Carolina equestrian team wrapped up its home slate with an exhibition against Berry College, defeating the Vikings by a score of 13-2 on Friday at OneWood Farm.
The Gamecocks took Most Outstanding Player honors in all four events, with freshman Alexa Aureliano winning for over fences, sophomore Madeline Schaefer taking thee flat award, freshman Madison Burlett winning in horsemanship and sophomore Mary Margaret Coats winning for reining.
Alexa Aureliano and fellow freshman Sydney DeGrazia joined senior Rawleigh Harris with over fences wins, while sophomores Nina Columbia and Madeline Schaefer, junior Mackenzie Suffy and senior Kate Bonham swept the flat to give the Gamecocks a 7-1 win in the jumping seat events.
Madison Burlett and senior Mira Clavecilla picked up horsemanship wins, while Mary Margaret Coats, sophomore Claire Pound, freshman Chloe Stephenson and junior Graycen Hess all won to sweep reining and clinch a 6-1 western win, and a 13-2 victory.
Carolina is set to face Auburn on March 13 on the plains ahead of the SEC Championship in Bishop, Ga. on March 26-27.
