26 Gamecocks Earn NCEA Academic Honors
WACO, Texas – The South Carolina equestrian team continues to shine in the classroom with 14 members making it on to American Wood Fibers NCEA All-Academic teams, and 12 more making the APHA NCEA Honor Roll, NCEA officials announced on Friday.
To qualify for the American Wood Fibers NCEA All-Academic First Team a rider must have competed in 70 percent of their school’s meets and maintained a 3.5 GPA through the previous spring and fall semesters. 10 Gamecocks earned First Team honors with Caroline Bald, Louisa Brackett, Kit Cunningham, McKenzie Duncan, Trinity Hammerschmidt, Alice Kass, Taylor Kellam, Alexa Thorpe, Sloane Vogt and Cora Wyers making the list.
All American Wood Fibers NCEA Academic Honorable Mention honorees had to ride in at least 50 percent of their school’s meets and maintain a 3.0 GPA through the previous spring and fall semesters. Four riders in the Garnet and Black qualify this year with Jordan Allen, Kiersten Beckner, Addie Cromer and Graycen Hess earning distinction.
The APHA NCEA Honor Roll recognizes the top academic student-athletes that maintain a GPA of 3.25 or higher while being fully enrolled through the previous spring and fall semesters. This year’s honorees include Kate Bonham, Gabrielle Brassard, Mira Clavecilla, Mary Margaret Coats, Nikita Cope, Rawleigh Harris, Mackenzie Matthews, Christina Mueller, Claire Pound, Josephine Rose, Michaela Schrim and Mackenzie Suffy.
