Go Notches Career Best Finish at Gamecock Intercollegiate
BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – Senior Lois Kaye Go notched her best career finish as the No. 2 South Carolina women’s golf team finished third in the Gamecock Intercollegiate at the Columbia Country Club on Wednesday.
Go took second, her highest finish as a Gamecock, finishing the tournament with a 4-under 212. This marks the seventh top-5 finish of Go’s Carolina career, moving her into a three-way tie for seventh place all time.
Senior Ana Pelaez finished strong with a 2-under 70 to wrap up the tournament tied for sixth with an even par 216. This is the ninth top-10 finish of Pelaez’s career.
Freshman Paula Kirner sank three birdies in the final round to shoot an even par 72, and finish with a 3-over 219 for the tournament, tied for 20th. The 219 total is Kirner’s lowest 54-hole total of her burgeoning collegiate career.
The Gamecocks now look toward next weekend and a trip to the Valspar Augusta Invitational set for March 13-14 in Augusta, Ga.
