Franks in Top-10 at Myrtle Beach Through Two Rounds

Talented sophomore seeking second consecutive top-10 finish
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – South Carolina sits in 10th place through 36 holes of the General Hackler Championship. Carolina is 2-under for the tournament through 36 holes after rounds of 292 (+4) and 282 (-6) at The Dunes Golf and Beach Club.
Sophomore Nathan Franks continued his steady play with a bogey free, 4-under 68 to start the day and then following that up with a 3-under 69 this evening. The Roebuck, S.C., native is T-6th with Liberty’s Josh Ryan at 7-under, four shots back of Virginia’s Ben James who leads at 11-under.
Fifth year senior Evans Lewis shot 73 (+1) in the opening round and followed that up with a 3-under 69 in round two thanks to three birdies and an eagle. Transfer Lansdon Robbins shot 74 (+2) then even par (72) in round two. Junior Rafe Reynolds also shot 72 (E) in the second round but had a tough opening 18 with a 77 (+5).
Freshman Walker Jennings, who is playing as an individual this week, shot 74 (+2) in round one and 72 (E) in the second round, his first collegiate round of par or better. Fellow freshman Zach Adams had a tough opening 18 with an 8-over 80. He shot 73 (+1) in the second with a trio of birdies. He was bogey free on the back nine in round two but was hurt by a stretch of four bogeys in five holes on the front nine.
No. 16 Virginia has the 36-hole lead with at 22-under thanks to a 13-under second round score of 275. ETSU is in second, two shots back, with Louisville seven shots back from the leading Cavaliers to round out the top-three.
The Gamecocks will be paired with Duke for the final round on Tuesday. Franks and Lewis will be off first for the Gamecocks alongside a pair of Blue Devils on hole 10 at 9 a.m. (ET). Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
