Sophomore, who is making lineup debut as a Gamecock, shot 71 (-1) and is T-3rd

BATON ROUGE, La. – Sophomore Nick Mayfield shined in his lineup debut at the LSU Invitational on Friday. The Rock Hill, S.C., native, fired a 1-under 71 with five birdies and is T-3rd after 18 holes of golf.

Windy conditions and tough pins made for a difficult day as no team shot under par. The Gamecocks shot 298 (+10) and are currently T-6th with No. 11 Florida. South Carolina is just five shots back from leaders No. 6 Illinois heading into Saturday’s second round.
