Equestrian Releases Spring Slate
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina equestrian team announced its spring schedule on Wednesday.
“We’ve had to make some adjustments for this semester like we did last semester,” head coach Boo Major said of her team’s spring slate. “We had a couple of schools cancel due to constraints, but we are very thankful to continue our home and away competitions within the SEC. The University of Lynchburg will be our only non-conference competition at the end of January, and we are hoping to host someone March 5 to fill the void left by a cancelation. We are so thankful for the support of our administration and the SEC during these extremely difficult times.”
The Gamecocks saddle up on Jan. 29 for a jumping seat competition with Lynchburg and a western scrimmage at OneWood Farm before heading to Bishop, Ga. to face Georgia on Feb. 6. After a week off the Garnet and Black travel to Auburn for a clash with the Tigers on Feb. 20. Senior Day is set for Feb. 27 when Texas A&M comes to Blythewood. Carolina does have an open date on March 5, but no opponent has been locked in for that date.
The postseason gets underway with the SEC Championship in Bishop, Ga. on March 26-27, and the NCEA Championship is set for April 15-17 in Waco, Texas.
The Gamecocks finished the fall at No. 3 in the NCEA rankings. As it was in the fall, attendance at OneWood Farm will still be limited to family members on the team’s guest list. Anyone not already on that list will NOT be permitted into the facility.
