No. 12 South Carolina in 15th After 30 Holes of Gators Invitational
Teams will attempt to finish the 54-hole tournament Saturday due to weather
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — No. 12 South Carolina is in 15th through 30 holes of the 2021 Gators Invitational, sitting even par as a team for the tournament. Play will resume in the morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. ET. Teams will attempt to finish the tournament on Saturday with impending inclement weather rolling in on Sunday.
The Gamecocks opened the spring portion of their schedule with a solid 4-under round of 276 to start the day. Junior Ryan Hall paced Carolina with a 3-under 67 thanks to three birdies and an eagle. Hall is currently T-8th at 4-under overall.
All-American Jamie Wilson and sophomore Jack Wall each shot 69 (-1) in the first round. Wilson got off to a rough start but rallied with a bogey free 29 (-6) on the back nine that featured six birdies. He had a stretch of seven birdies in 10 holes during the round. Wall was steady with just two bogeys in the round. He had a hot stretch of three birdies in four holes. Super senior Caleb Proveaux was the final counting score in the first round shooting 71 (+1).
The Gamecocks are 4-over through 12 holes of the second round. Hall and Wilson are both at 1-under. Senior Jack Parrott is 2-over while Proveaux and Wall both sit at 4-over for the second round.
No. 3 Georgia is currently leading the tournament at 20-under by three shots over Liberty. No. 8 Auburn and No. 16 LSU are T-3rd at 14-under.
