No. 4 Gamecocks Back at Wolfpack Match Play

Andy Mead

Carolina will look to defend its title from last season starting Monday vs. Louisville in quarterfinals

RALEIGH, N.C. – No. 4 South Carolina concludes the regular season on Monday and Tuesday at the Wolfpack Match Play. The Gamecocks, who won the event last season and are the top seed this year, will face eighth-seeded Louisville in the Quarterfinals on Monday.

Senior Justine Fournand will be the first player off for Carolina at 8 a.m. (ET) on hole one.

This marks the second all-match play event of the spring for the Gamecocks. Carolina went 2-1 at the Cactus Cup in the middle of March with wins of No. 11 Arizona State and No. 6 San Jose State. The Gamecocks are 2-2 overall in match play during the 2022-23 season. Match play will again determine both the SEC Champion and NCAA Champions this season.

Sophomore All-American Lousie Rydqvist, senior Mathilde Calisse, graduate transfer Katherine Muzi and freshman Mia Sandtorv Lussand will also be in the lineup for Carolina against the Cardinals in tomorrow’s quarterfinal match. Sophomore All-American Hannah Darling, who just competed in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, also made the trip with the team and could be subbed in for the semifinals.

Carolina is guaranteed three matches over the next two days at Lonnie Poole Golf Course. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat the duration of the event.
