Senior Spotlight: Alexa Thorpe

Hailing from West Jefferson, Ohio, fifth-year Alexa Thorpe was a beast for the Gamecocks this season in Horsemanship. Thorpe notched a 7-5-0 record on the year, earning the highest win average in the event (.583).

Six of her seven wins this season came against top-10 ranked opponents, and her two MOP awards accounted for half of the MOPs in Horsemanship this year. Her 77 on Tulip against Baylor (Sept. 29) tied for the highest Horsemanship score this season.

Thorpe saw success in the post-season, taking down an Auburn opponent twice, both in the SEC Tournament and NCEA Championships. At NCEA’s, Thorpe recorded the third-highest score (three judges) in program history for Horsemanship.

In the classroom, Thorpe is a three-time NCEA First Team Academic All-American and five-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member.
