Kate Bonham Named NCEA Standout Athlete of the Month
WACO, Texas – South Carolina equestrian senior Kate Bonham was named the NCEA Standout Athlete of the Month for November, NCEA officials announced on Monday.
“Kate is our ‘go to’ person on the team for many things,” head coach Boo Major said of Bonham. “She has been a great addition to South Carolina’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee since she has been here. She leads by example and is a great asset to have both on and off the horse and is most deserving of this honor.”
Bonham holds a 4.0 grade point average and is on pace to graduate this spring with a degree in public health. Last year the senior tallied 61.5 community service hours, the second highest total for any individual student-athlete at the university. Upon returning for her senior season Bonham participated in the athletic department’s NCAA Inclusion roundtable discussion as well.
The Gamecocks finished the fall at No. 3 in the NCEA rankings. Information on the spring schedule will be announced when it’s available.
