Pauline Roussin-Bouchard Invited to U.S. Women’s Open

COLUMBIA, S.C. – University of South Carolina women’s golf sophomore Pauline Roussin-Bouchard is set to compete in the U.S. Women’s Open on Dec. 10-13 at Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas. 

Roussin-Bouchard earned her spot there based on her No. 3 women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking when the selections were made on Nov. 4. The sophomore had another strong fall for the Gamecocks, earning her second collegiate win at The Ally, and added a pair of top-10 finishes at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational and the East Lake Cup. 

“I’m very excited for Pauline to showcase her talent against the best professional players in the world,” University of South Caroline women’s golf Head Coach Kalen Anderson said. “Pauline has certainly earned this well-deserved opportunity.”

The Carqueiranne, France native made the Preseason ANNIKA Award Watch List this season after the strongest freshman campaign in program history. She earned numerous honors in her first season, including First Team All-America distinction from both the WGCA and Golfweek, a spot on the final ANNIKA Award Watch List, and invitations to play in both the 2020 Arnold Palmer Cup and the 2021 Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Her 71.27 scoring average is the lowest for a freshman in program history, and the second lowest season average for any Gamecock golfer in team history. Roussin-Bouchard also broke freshman records with her 54-hole score of 205 and her 18-hole score of 65 at the 2019 Windy City Collegiate Classic.

The 75th U.S. Women’s Open Championship will be hosted by Champions Golf Club, in Houston, Texas, from Dec. 10-13, 2020 sees a 156-player field compete
