No. 3 Gamecocks Ride at No. 7 Texas A&M on Thursday
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 3 University of South Carolina equestrian team continues its fall slate with a trip to No. 7 Texas A&M on Thursday. The action is set to get underway at 10 a.m. ET from the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
What You Need to Know
- South Carolina (0-1, 0-1 SEC) aims to get its first win of the season after dropping the season opener to No. 1 Auburn, 14-5, back on Oct. 16.
- Though the Gamecocks couldn’t get the team victory against Auburn, they saw some success with junior Alexa Thorpe winning her horsemanship matchup over Auburn’s Deanna Green, 78-76.
- Juniors Caroline Bald, Trinity Hammerschmidt and Kit Cunningham picked up wins on the jumping seat side of things against the Tigers, with Bald winning her flat matchup, Hammerschmidt getting her point in over fences and Cunningham taking her flat point.
- Freshman Chloe Stephenson earned a win in her Carolina debut, taking her reining point 74.5-68.5.
- The Gamecocks look to extend their winning streak over A&M to three after winning last season’s meet at A&M, 10-9, and getting the tiebreaker win in the home meet, 10-10 (1421.5-1358) at OneWood Farm.
Scouting the Aggies
Texas A&M opened its season with back-to-back meets last weekend. The Aggies fell in their opener at No. 4 Georgia, 9-10, and dropped their next meet the following day at No. 1 Auburn 15-5.
