COLUMBIA, SC – The 15th-ranked South Carolina women’s soccer team (1-0-1) is set to travel up to New England to face a pair of opponents, taking on Boston College (0-1-1) and UMass-Lowell (0-1-1). Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT

The Gamecocks took on Jacksonville for their home opener on Sunday, Aug. 20, taking down the Dolphins in a 6-0 showdown for the first win of the season. Sophomore Shae O’Rourke opened up the scoring for South Carolina, knocking one in at the 13-minute mark to notch the first goal of the season for the second year in a row. Senior Catherine Barry along with newcomers Brinley Murphy and Dubem Dike each tallied one for the Gamecocks as well, in addition to rookie Reagan Schubach finding the back of the net twice. South Carolina recorded its 350th program win with the victory, and also set a new record for shots in a game with 43.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES

Thursday’s meeting with Boston College will be just the second all-time, and the first on their turf. The Gamecocks last met with the Eagles at home in 2021, securing a 1-0 victory after scoring at the 72-minute mark. The Eagles have two games under their belt, having faced Cal-State Fullerton and Long Beach State out on the West Coast. Boston College finished their first game of the season with a 0-0 tie, followed by a 4-2 loss. Despite the loss, the Eagles saw a goal from sophomore Ella Richards.

SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS

South Carolina will round out their trip against UMass-Lowell and face the River Hawks for the first time in program history. The River Hawks have taken on Merrimack (L, 1-2) and Fairfield (T, 1-1) to open their 2023 campaign, and will face Massachusetts before Sunday’s match. UMass-Lowell’s Calliste Brookshire will be one to watch for, having scored in both games for the River Hawks.
