Gamecocks to Host Community Event at Hyatt Park

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s basketball invites the community to an event at Hyatt Park on Sun., Sept. 17. The Gamecocks will be on hand for a youth clinic followed by the larger event open to the public 4-5 p.m., which will feature food trucks, music, face painting and more.

Hyatt Park’s outdoor courts were refurbished in November 2022 in partnership with Gamecock women’s basketball alumna A’ja Wilson. The “Legends of Tomorrow” courts were designed by local artist Charmaine Minniefield as part of Project Backboard, which is a nonprofit whose mission is to renovate public basketball courts into large-scale works of art.

South Carolina women’s basketball opens the 2023-24 season on Mon., Nov. 6, in Paris, France, against Notre Dame. The reigning SEC Regular-Season and Tournament champions will announce their full schedule in the coming weeks. It will feature 15 home games with Colonial Life Arena hosting eight NCAA Tournament teams, including four who reached at least the Sweet 16.

Representatives will be on-hand at the Hyatt Park event to purchase season tickets ahead of the seat selection process that will take place later this month. South Carolina has led the nation in women’s basketball average attendance for the last nine seasons, and the Gamecocks aim to make it 10 in 2023-24.
