The Tournament
The sixth-annual East Lake Cup sees four of the top women’s golf programs competing against each other at the East Lake Golf Club. South Carolina faces familiar foes Ole Miss and Florida, with Texas rounding out the competition. The teams are set for stroke play on Monday to set the seeds for the match play portion of the tournament. The top seed faces the fourth seed, while seeds two and three face off on Tuesday, and the winners of those matchups play for the championship on Wednesday, while the other two teams compete for third place. The individual leader at the end of Monday’s stroke play round will be crowned the individual champion.
The Course
Located in Atlanta, the East Lake Golf Club is the home course of legendary golfer Bobby Jones and is the oldest golf course in the city of Atlanta. The Club is not only historic, but philanthropic as well. Proceeds from operations support the East Lake Foundation, now serving as a national model for holistic community redevelopment across the country through Purpose Built Communities.
Over the years, East Lake Golf Club has hosted many national and regional championships, including the 1950 U.S. Women’s Amateur, 1963 Ryder Cup, and 2001 U.S. Men’s Amateur. It is now the permanent home of the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, the culminating event of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedEx Cup.
