ATLANTA, Ga. – The South Carolina men’s tennis team continued to roll through their fall schedule Friday as two singles players and one doubles team advanced to Saturday’s competition at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
Carl Wermee and Rob Cassidy both advanced to the final eight draws in their respective division. Wermee won straight matches in the A Division over Menano from Georgia Tech, 6-3, 6-1. Wermee then topped Varela of Georgia 7-5, 6-3. Cassidy, competing in the B Division, won over Sulin of Georgia State 6-2, 6-4 then advanced to defeat Gilli of Furman, 6-2, 6-1. Wermee will try and tackle Bobusic of Georgia while Cassidy advances to face Tyler of Georgia Tech Saturday.
In doubles competition, the pair of Wermee and Marcus Westman beat the Georgia Tech duo of Nott and Pieters 8-6. They face the Georgia State pair of Lisac and Rodrigez Saturday.
Action continues Saturday on the campus of Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
