COLUMBIA, S.C. – No. 13 South Carolina women’s soccer (8-1-3, 2-0-2) is back home this week to face LSU (7-4-1, 2-2-0) Thursday, Oct. 5 under the lights at Stone Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on SEC Network+. The game will be featured as the yearly Pink Out game, recognizing those who have battled breast cancer. Fans who wear pink to the game will receive $1 admission.

LAST TIME OUT

The Gamecocks notched their eighth win of the season after a 2-1, comeback road victory at Auburn. Both Carolina goals came with less than 10 minutes of play remaining. Freshman forward Reagan Schubach scored the equalizer, her fifth goal of the season squaring things back at one in the 84^th minute. Just two minutes later, senior forward Cat Barry fired the game-winning goal into the back of the net to put the Gamecocks ahead 2-1, in the 86^th minute. Auburn outshot Carolina 12 (5) to 8 (5), but the Gamecocks had six corner kicks to the Tigers’ zero. Fifth-year keeper Heather Hinz made four saves on the night including two crucial ones in the first half to keep the game scoreless heading into the break.

CARDIAC CAT

Barry’s eighth goal of the season came with just four minutes remaining in regulation giving the Gamecocks the lead and ultimately the victory over Auburn. It was her 32^nd career goal and the 16^th time she has scored the game-winner in her Gamecock career. Barry now leads the SEC in points (20) and shots (57).

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

Thursday’s matchup will be the 23^rd all-time between the Gamecocks and Tigers. Carolina holds an 11-5-6 advantage in the series, but LSU has won the last three meetings. The two squads last faced off in October of 2021 when LSU defeated South Carolina 4-0 in Baton Rouge.

LSU comes off a 4-0 home loss to Florida on Friday, Sept. 29. Florida outshot LSU 16 (9) to 6 (0). LSU keeper Mollee Swift made five saves on the night. The Tigers are led by sophomore midfielder Ida Hermannsdottir, sophomore forward Sage Glover and grad student Taylor Dobles who each have four goals on the season. Hermannsdottir and senior forward Mollie Baker lead LSU with 10 points each through 12 games. The Tigers are led in goal by veteran keeper Mollee Swift, who has 32 career wins in her time at LSU, 15 of those coming via shutouts.

Gamecock fans will be able to utilize free parking in the grass lot located behind the Athletics Village Parking Garage (1300 Heyward Street) or overflow parking located at the Roost (201 South Marion). Fans will also have the option to park at any of the City of Columbia metered spots located around Stone Stadium (subject to fees required through the ParkMobile app). The Athletics Village Parking Garage will not be available.
