COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 15 South Carolina women’s soccer team (9-1-4, 3-0-3) hosts Ole Miss (6-5-2, 2-3-1) Friday, Oct. 13 at Stone Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and can be streamed on SEC Network+.

LAST TIME OUT

The Gamecocks come off their fourth draw of the season after a 1-1 finish at Missouri this past Sunday. Defense told the story of the first half for both sides with neither team scratching across a goal. Carolina had chances early and often from Brianna Behm and Micah Bryant but were unable to push a goal across. Heather Hinz made two saves in the first 45 and finished with three on the night. The Gamecocks drew first blood in the 63rd minute when Corinna Zullo made a nifty move past a Missouri defender driving the ball into the net putting Carolina up 1-0. It was Zullo’s second goal of the season and the 14th of her career. Missouri responded in the 76th minute when Scarlett Thomas found the equalizer after Hinz was drawn outside of the box. The game finished in a 1-1 draw with shots (12) and corners (6) being even on both sides.

SCOUTING THE REBELS

Friday’s matchup will be the 23rd meeting all-time between the Rebels and Gamecocks with Carolina holding a 13-6-3 advantage in the series. The two teams last squared off in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament in Nov. of 2022, resulting in a 3-0 Gamecock win. Current Gamecocks Cat Barry and Megan Spiehs each had a goal in the victory.

Ole Miss comes off a 1-0 loss against in-state rival Mississippi State this past Sunday in Starkville. The difference in the match was a penalty kick awarded to the Bulldogs and converted in the 35th minute. The Rebels were outshot 13 (4) to 9 (2) but had a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks, including eight in the second half alone.

The Rebels are led offensively by senior Kelly Brady who has seven goals and 14 points this season. Junior Shu Ohba protects the Rebels in net and has 46 saves in 11 games, tallying a .868 save percentage.
