Gamecocks Put Up Season Highs on the Road at Auburn

AUBURN, AL – The No. 7 South Carolina Equestrian team (4-2, 0-2) took on the Auburn Tigers (5-0) Friday, making great efforts through the first half but ultimately falling 14-4.

The Gamecocks impressed on the Flat, winning the event 3-1 over Auburn. Ellie Beard got the points rolling for South Carolina, with her career-high of 90 defeating Ellie Ferrigno’s 89 on Bebe. Newcomer Sarah Rabb also put up a career-high of 91 on Swag, tying Mary Grace Segars. Sophomore Natalie Jayne took her point on Cantori over Ava Stearns, 88-85. Sophie Mitchell rounded out the event with a point of her own, defeating Sophee Steckbeck 89-85 on Rex.

Reining saw a tight battle, with South Carolina coming within no more than a point to beat the Tigers in each ride (excluding a 0 from Chloe Stephenson). Auburn took the event 4-0 after Haley Turner tied things with Alexia Tordoff, each earning a 71.5 on GT.

The second half opened with a point from Jordan Allen in Fences, taking down Mary Grace Seagars 83-81 on Tigger. Auburn then grabbed the remaining four points despite impressive efforts from the Gamecocks.

The day rounded out with Horsemanship, where Auburn sealed the deal 5-0. Despite a loss, Alyssa Jipping and Kiersten Beckner each put up new season highs of 75 and 76, respectively. Tierney Horton also tied her season high of 74.5 on Mikey.
