Corbin Paces Carolina in Opening Round of All-American Intercollegiate
Sophomore matched career best round with a 1-under 71
HUMBLE, Texas – South Carolina shot 292 (+4) in its first round of the spring on Sunday at the All-American Intercollegiate. The Gamecocks sit in seventh place heading into round two on Monday.
Sophomore Harry Corbin, who is making his first start of the season in the lineup this week, matched a career-best round with a 71 (-1). He shot 36 (E) on the front nine and closed with a 35 (-1) on the back. The Inman, S.C., native, led the team with four birdies on the day. He’s T-19th after 18 holes.
Fellow sophomore Ryan Hall shot 73 (+1). The Knoxville, Tenn., native, made the turn at 2-under (34), but was unable to get a birdie coming into the clubhouse as he shot 39 (+3) on the back nine. Senior Jamie Wilson and junior Andrew Spiegler were the other counting scores, each posting 74s (+2).
The Gamecocks will be paired with Louisiana Tech and host school Houston in the second round. Senior Caleb Proveaux will lead things off at 9 a.m. ET on hole one.
