Demi Griffith
Demi Griffith is originally from Edmonton, Alberta Canada and has recently joined the South Carolina Athletics Department Mental Health and Performance team as a Mental Performance Intern.
Demi earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2018 from Presbyterian College, where she played tennis. She completed a master’s degree in kinesiology with a sport and exercise psychology concentration from Georgia Southern University in 2020, followed by a master’s degree in counseling and development with a clinical mental health counseling concentration from Winthrop University in 2022. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) in the state of South Carolina and maintains the credential of National Certified Counselor (NCC).
Demi utilizes a person-centered approach and provides a safe, genuine, non-judgmental and empowering space. In addition, she highlights the interconnection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while incorporating strengths-based techniques and mindfulness practice. Demi’s interests include working with student-athletes to address athletic injury and recovery, athletic career transitions/athletic identity concerns, self-talk, confidence and self-esteem concerns, performance anxiety, and emotion-management training. Demi’s purpose is to be authentic, passionate, and grateful for the opportunity to help student-athletes become the best version of themselves through serving their personal and athletic needs/goals and helping them move towards positive change and optimal performance.
