Gamecocks Helping Gamecocks

Collection drives set for women’s basketball on Jan. 28 and men’s basketball on Feb. 10

After successful collection drives during the 2023-24 athletic year, Gamecock Athletics is excited to announce that it is continuing it’s partnership with University of South Carolina First Lady Ero Aggelopoulou-Amiridis, the University of South Carolina Board of Visitors and the Gamecock CommUnity Shop to host collection drives to help out the Gamecock Community.

The Gamecock CommUnity Shop is a on-campus resource which provides free food, toiletries, school supplies, and professional clothing to USC students, faculty, and staff to help meet basic needs.

Both the Gamecock basketball teams will host a collection drive this season. The women’s basketball collection drive will occur on Sunday, January 28 vs. Vanderbilt and the men’s basketball collection drive will occur on Saturday, February 10 vs. Vanderbilt.

Last season, over 1,200 pounds of food were collected through donation drives at women’s basketball and softball.

Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the game that will be collected by volunteers outside of the entrances of Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecock CommUnity Shop is encouraging fans to bring bags of rice, canned meat, peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti sauce, canned fruit and vegetables, granola bars, fruit snacks and trail mix.

Fans can also donate through the Pantry’s Amazon Wish List.
