Franks Named SEC Golfer of the Week

Second career golfer of the week honor for the three-year starter from Roebuck, S.C.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Junior Nathan Franks was named SEC Men’s Golfer of the Week the league office announced on Wednesday. He shares the honors this week with Texas A&M’s Daniel Rodrigues and Missouri’s Jack Lundin.
Franks is fresh off his first career win at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate (Feb. 3-4). He shot a career-best 54-hole score of 204 (-12) to win by four shots over teammate Rafe Reynolds.
The Roebuck, S.C., native was the only player in the 79-man field to go double-digit under par with his total score.
He shot 68-66-72 and his second round score of 66 (-6) was a season best, one off tying a career low 18-hole score.
The Gamecocks open the spring season at the Puerto Rico Classic (Feb. 11-13), which starts next Sunday. Purdue host the annual event, and it’ll feature a strong field top to bottom with schools from several Power Five leagues.
