Chang Earns CoSIDA Academic Honor

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina junior midfielder Lauren Chang has been named to the women’s soccer CoSIDA Academic District 4 Team, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.

The first-time honoree will now be placed on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot. First-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be revealed in December.

Chang, a political science major, boasts an outstanding GPA of 3.95. The Alpharetta, Ga., native’s honor adds to her long list of accomplishments this season. She was named to the All-SEC Second Team after finishing the regular season as the second leading scorer with five goals. She added three assists and was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 23. Her All-SEC honor was the second of her career, with both being on the Second Team.

South Carolina takes on Vanderbilt (14-4-1, 6-3-1 SEC) on Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. The match can be seen on SEC Network with the winner advancing to the Nov. 10 championship match at 2 p.m. ET.
