Gamecocks Pick Up Three More Wins in Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA.— Day two of the Georgia Tech Invitational yielded three singles wins for South Carolina men’s tennis on Sunday. All three Gamecocks went to three sets in at least one of their two matches on the day, including sophomore Beau Pelletier whose three-set win moved him into the semifinals for the White main draw.
 
Pelletier opened the day with a tough win over the host Georgia Tech’s Pablo Schelcher. The Gamecock sophomore delivered points at the most crucial times in a 7-6, 4-6, 7-6 quarterfinal victory to stay alive in the White Singles main draw. After falling in the semifinals, Pelletier will take on Teodor Glusca of Clemson in a consolation match Monday, who he will also face in doubles that morning.
 
Thomas Brown split his Sunday matches in the consolation bracket of the Olde Gold singles draw. Shaking off a morning loss to score an SEC victory over Vanderbilt’s Max Freeman. Brown dropped the first set but dominated the second and then powered home the third-set super tiebreak for the 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 victory. He will face Mark Wallner of Tennessee tomorrow morning.

UP NEXT FOR THE GAMECOCKS
Pelletier and Brown will play for the White doubles title Monday at 8 a.m. Singles matches will take place later in the day.
