Carolina Drops Conference Match At UAB
Gamecocks back home next Tuesday to face NC State
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —- South Carolina men’s soccer dropped a 1-0 match to UAB on Saturday night in its Conference USA match at BBVA Field. The Blazers’ goal 21 minutes into the match proved to be the difference in a tightly contested match that saw just 13 shots combined.
With the result, UAB improved to 2-8-1 (1-3-1 C-USA) while Carolina moved to 5-6-1 (0-4).
Both teams showed quality defense with limited shots allowed from start to finish as UAB got on the board first at the 21-minute mark thanks to Teodor Thorvaldesnsen’s first goal of the season off the Grayson Dupoint assist to take a 1-0 lead.
It would prove to be the only goal of the night as Carolina finished with seven shots to UAB’s six while Nick Brady had one save in his first start in goal for South Carolina. Both teams finished with three corners while three yellow cards were awarded.
