Gamecocks Return Home To Face Presbyterian
Carolina set to play three straight at Stone Stadium
COLUMBIA, S.C. —- South Carolina men’s soccer returns home for three-straight matches starting Tuesday against Presbyterian. Gates will open 1 hour before the 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
Game day parking is available for fans in the Heyward Street Garage located at 1300 Heyward Street. Parking is free of charge in this location and is available on all levels on a first-come, first-served basis. Handicap parking is also located at designated spaces within the Heyward Street Garage. An elevator is located within the garage for fans who will need to access the elevator to get to the ground level.
There are two entry gates for fans to enter Stone Stadium, located at Whaley Street and Heyward Street.
The Gamecocks will look to snap a two-game skid and remain undefeated at home in the early season. Carolina is 4-0 at Stone Stadium thus far, outscoring opponents 7-1 with three-consecutive shutouts and three overtime victories.
“Our crowd support has been unbelievable,” head coach Mark Berson said. “Once again this year, we’re right in the top of the country as far as attendance numbers go and that crowd really helps to power us. We feel a tremendous responsibility at home and it starts tomorrow night with Presbyterian. It’s a big game for us and I think our players are really excited to get back home and get playing again.”
Carolina comes into the match looking to rebound from a 4-0 defeat at the hands of 11th-ranked Charlotte on Friday in Charlotte. Senior Tucker Monheimer will look to continue his quick start to his final year in the Garnet and Black. Monheimer has finished four of the team’s eight goals this year, three of which were game winners.
Head coach Mark Berson enters his 42nd season as head coach for Carolina. He’s been the only coach for the program since its first season in 1978. He is the active wins leader in NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer with 511 career victories and is one of just four coaches all-time to hit the 500-win plateau.

PRESBYTERIAN SERIES NOTES
- Carolina leads the all-time series 11-0-1, including a 10-0-1 mark at Stone Stadium. Carolina has allowed just three total goals in the series.
- Presbyterian’s lone tie in the series came in a 1-1 draw in double overtime in 2008 at Stone Stadium.
- This will be the first meeting between the two squads since 2013. The series dates back to 1978 Carolina won both matches in a home and away set.
- Carolina has scored two or more goals 11 times. Five matches have seen the Gamecocks score four or more while three have watched them finish six or more goals.
- The Gamecocks opened the series with a 12-0 victory on Sept. 18, 1978.
PRESBYTERIAN SCOUT
- Presbyterian come in with a 2-7 record, including an 0-4 mark on the road.
- PC comes into the match with two-straight wins with victories over Middle Georgia and Furman.
- Jonathan Potter enters his fourth season leading the program. He’s led the team to a 23-38 record during that time, including winning the 2017 Big South Tournament.
- PC has been outscored 16-8 thus far.
- Cesar Sancho has led the charge with three goals and six points.
