A total of 989 college teams (345 men, 644 women) earned the Team Academic Award. Carolina was one of 255 schools that had both its men’s and women’s programs among the recipients.

Mark Berson’s men’s team has earned the award on 14 occasions, twice recording the highest GPA in the country (2010-11, 2013-14). The Gamecocks’ GPA of 3.521 this past year was the highest in Conference USA for the third-consecutive season.

Shelley Smith’s women’s team has taken the honor now 17 times in program history, including each of the last 12 seasons.

The No. 7 Gamecock women’s soccer team (10-1-0, 4-0-0 SEC) remain on the road to take on Kentucky on Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. The Gamecocks then return home for a matchup with Vanderbilt on SEC Network on Oct. 13 at 3 p.m.
