Frankie Harris is inside the top-20 after pacing Carolina in round two with an even par 72

BATON ROUGE, La. – South Carolina shot 298 (+10) and sits T-8th with No. 24 Oregon at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional. The Gamecocks sit eight shots back of Ohio State, who is in fifth place, heading into the final round on Wednesday.

Redshirt sophomore Frankie Harris led the team today in round two with an even par 72. The Boca Raton, Fla., native was steady outside of one blemish, a triple bogey at the par-4 ninth hole. He caught a tough break on his approach as it flew long and left into a hazard area. He was bogey free outside of that hole with a trio of birdies. Harris is four shots back of LSU’s Connor Gaunt, who currently holds the ticket for highest placing individual on a non-advancing team to the NCAA Championship.

Freshman Bo Carpenter and sophomore Zach Adams each shot 75 (+3). Carpenter made three birdies and finished strong with a circle on his scorecard at the par-5 17th hole, bouncing back from a double and a bogey the prior two holes. Adams had a hot start with four birdies in his opening five holes. He was 2-under after his fifth birdie at hole 11 but bogeys on his next four holes pushed his score to 2-over on the day.

Junior Nathan Franks, who is back in the lineup this week after missing most of the spring with injury, shot 76 (+4) and was the final counting score. He had back-to-back birdies at holes 11 and 12 but was unable to get any more red numbers on his scorecard down the stretch. Senior Rafe Reynolds was subbed in today and shot 82 (+10) in the five-man spot for the Gamecocks.

Carolina will likely need a round of par or better tomorrow to chase down some of the teams in front of it to get into the top-five that’ll advancing to next week’s NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa in Carlsbad, Calif. A ticket to NCAA finals would be the team’s 22nd all-time appearance and first since 2019.

The Gamecocks will be paired with the Ducks again and joined by Houston, who sits seventh at 9-over. The team will be off from hole 1 again at 8:55 a.m. (ET) with live scoring available via Golfstat.
