Incoming Freshmen Earn All-America Honors
COLUMBIA, S.C. —- South Carolina men’s soccer had a trio of incoming freshmen earn All-America honors, TopDrawerSoccer announced over the weekend. The TopDrawerSoccer All-America teams are selected from the 88 regional honorees and are compiled by TopDrawerSoccer with consultation from coaches and media members from around the country.
Mark Roby, Logan Frost and Ethan Rose were named All-Americans for their respective seasons. Roby took home First-Team Winter All-America honors while Frost and Rose earned First-Team Spring All-America status.
Frost, a native of Birmingham, Ala., was named to the Alabama Coaches All-State First Team. The standout scored 24 goals and served up 21 assists to help lead his squad to a 21-1-3 season and a state title.
Hailing from Cambridge, Ga., Rose started every match during his four-year high school varsity career and helped his team to at least the state quarterfinals every season. He was named the DiVarsity Class 6A Player of the Year. Rose was a three-year team captain and was a three-time All-Region selection. He scored 23 career goals as a defender and added 47 assists.
From Flower Mound, Texas, Roby was named to the Dallas Morning News All-Metro first-team after claiming District 6-6A Defensive Player of the Year honors.
South Carolina opens the 2019 year with exhibition play on Aug. 17 against Duke while the regular season opens Aug. 30 at Clemson.
