Columbia, SC – The South Carolina women’s soccer team hosts N.C. State on Sunday afternoon at Stone Stadium with kickoff set for 1 p.m. The Gamecocks enter the match 3-3-1 and fresh off a 4-1 win on Wednesday evening vs. Davidson. N.C. State is 5-1-1 on the year and rank 10th in the Southeast Region by the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America). Last season the Gamecocks traveled to Raleigh, N.C. and defeated the Wolfpack 1-0 with a second-half goal from midfielder Jess Julin.

Carolina newcomers have had great success in the early pat of the season with five of 11 goals scored by freshmen. Shelly Hoddeson leads the Gamecocks with three goals on the year and M.A. Foster and Erin Geldhof have tallied one apiece. Senior goalkeeper Elise Matthews has played the entire 661-plus minutes for the Gamecocks and owns a 1.09 GAA.

Following Sunday’s match, Carolina will travel to Wofford on Wednesday evening and will compete in the UGA/Nike Invitational over the weekend in Athens, Ga. with matches vs. Georgia Southern and Liberty.
