Women's Hoops Announces Five More Home Games

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Reigning National Champion South Carolina women’s basketball announced today an additional five home games for the 2024-25 season. The Gamecocks’ annual matchup with UConn headlines the group, which includes a pair of in-state battles, a conference tournament runner-up, and first-time regular-season foe.

East Carolina will visit Colonial Life Arena on Sun., Nov. 17, returning the Gamecocks’ December 2023 trip to Greenville, N.C. The Pirates capped their 2023-24 campaign by advancing to the American Athletic Conference Tournament title game. Eight letterwinners return for this season, including junior forward Amiya Joyner, who averaged a double-double with 12.9 points and 10.0 rebounds per game last season.

The Gamecocks will open a three-game December homestand against USF on Sun., Dec. 16. The Bulls have played in three of the last four NCAA Tournaments with a pair of second-round appearances. Last season, USF finished 19-14 and return their top two scorers who are also among last season’s top three rebounders for 2024-25.

In-state foes Charleston Southern and Wofford will bookend the Gamecocks’ holiday break. The Bucs will be at Colonial Life Arena on Thu., Dec. 19, and the Terriers close out the 2024 calendar with a visit on Sun., Dec. 29.

South Carolina will renew its annual rivalry with UConn on Sun., Feb. 16. The Gamecocks have won five of the last six meetings, including four straight and the last two contests at Colonial Life Arena. The Huskies reached the 2024 NCAA Final Four and finished with a 33-6 record. UConn will return two of its top three scorers from that season, led by All-American Paige Bueckers.

The Gamecocks lost just one letterwinner from last season’s undefeated 2024 National Championship team, which was just the 10th team in NCAA history to complete that feat. South Carolina also added the program’s eighth SEC Regular-Season Championship and eighth SEC Tournament title as well. South Carolina led the nation in scoring defense, scoring margin and blocked shots per game, setting program records for scoring average, scoring margin, field goals made, 3-point field goals made, defensive rebounds and assists.

With some games still to be announced, South Carolina’s released schedule is:
Mon., Nov. 4 vs. Michigan (Las Vegas, Nev.)
Sun., Nov. 10 vs. NC State (Charlotte, N.C.)
Sun., Nov. 17 vs. East Carolina
