Gamecocks Add Trio of Newcomers for 2024-25

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina men’s golf announced the additions of three players to its roster for the upcoming 2024-25 season in Brock Blais (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.), Marek Fleming (Tomball, Texas) and Andre Zhu (Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada).

Blais and Zhu are both commitments from the spring and Fleming rejoins new head coach Rob Bradley after originally committing to him at Purdue.

As a junior golfer, Fleming logged eight wins, six runner-up finishes and seven third-place finishes. He competed in both the 2022 and 2023 U.S. Junior Amateur. Fleming finished T-4^th at the 115^th Texas Amateur in June with a 72-hole score of 276 (-12) that featured scores of 68-71-68-69. He took third at the 2023 Houston City Amateur and was runner-up medalist at the 2023 Greenwood Cup. Fleming was also a standout baseball player. He switch hit, played shortstop and also pitched, hitting .402 as a sophomore for the Tomball Kings.

Blais, a transfer from UTSA, competed in 11 tournaments for the Roadrunners his freshman season in 2023-24. He logged a 74.16 scoring average in 32 rounds played. He had a trio of top-30 finishes with a season-best T-20^th finish at the Bentwater Invitational. Blais shot in the 60s three times with a season-best score of 68 in the second round of the Sea Best Invitational. He T-29^th at the AAC Championship with a 54-hole total of 217.

Zhu won four times playing in American Junior Golf Association events. In four AJGA starts in the 2024 calendar year, he had three top-20 finishes. In early July, he finished T-5th at the AJGA Junior at Huntsville in Dallas, Pa. He finished T-9^th at the 2-24 Discover Puerto Rico Junior Championship in January. Zhu qualified for the 2023 U.S. Amateur and also reached the final stage of U.S. Open qualifying in 2023.
