Myring, Reventlow-Mourier Score in 2-2 Draw

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina men’s soccer team (1-0-1) earned a 2-2 draw with North Florida (0-1-1) Sunday afternoon (Aug. 25) at Stone Stadium.

UNF held an 8-to-7 advantage in shots, 3-to-2 in shots on goal, and 6-to-2 in corner kicks. Filip Versterre made the lone save by either team in goal for Carolina.

Harrison Myring notched his second goal of the season in the 16th minute to give the Carolina an early advantage. Myring won the ball from an Ospreys defender and scored from just outside the box to the bottom right corner.

The Gamecocks continued to lead coming out of halftime, before newcomer Sebastian Reventlow-Mourier put the team up by a pair in the 55th minute. Ethan Ballek drove to the left corner flag and hit a crossing pass to the middle of the box, where it found the head of Reventlow-Mourier, who put it home off the goalkeeper’s outstretched gloves. It was his first goal as a Gamecock and Ballek’s second assist of the season.

North Florida tied the match with goals in the 81st and 85th minutes.

South Carolina continues its season-opening homestand when they Gamecocks host the Palmetto State presented by the South Carolina Education Lottery August 30 at 7 p.m.
