Men’s Tennis Fall Schedule Released

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina men’s tennis head coach Josh Goffi released his team’s Fall 2024 schedule today, which includes two traditional fall events in addition to the events that will yield qualifiers for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships, which will be played in the fall for the next two seasons instead of their previous placement in the spring.

The Gamecocks will open the season at the Southern Intercollegiates in Athens, Ga., for the first time since 2016 with competition running Sept. 13-15. The other traditional fall event on the schedule is the Wake Forest Invitational, which is set for Nov. 1-3.

Select Gamecocks will participate in pre-qualifying, qualifying and/or main draw rounds of the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa Okla., Sept. 21-29. From this event, 10 singles players – eight main draw quarterfinalists and two feed-in consolation finalists – will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship, and four doubles teams – four main draw semifinalists – will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship.

Next up, South Carolina will play in the ITA Carolina Regional Oct. 17-22 in Durham, N.C. This season’s format will see two singles finalists from each of the 13 regionals (26 total players) and the doubles champion from each regional (13 total doubles teams) qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships.

The 2024 ITA Sectional Championships will be played in four locations and send a total of 24 singles and 12 doubles qualifiers to the NCAA Individual Championships. Only players and doubles teams who have yet to earn entry into the NCAA Championships and have made deep runs at the ITA All-American or ITA Regional Championships are eligible to participate. The Gamecocks are in the East Section, which will be played in Chapel Hill, N.C. At each sectional, the two semifinalists and two quarterfinal playoff winners will advance to NCAA Singles Championship, and the two doubles finalists and the third-place duo will advance to the NCAA Doubles Championship.

The college tennis fall slate wraps up at the NCAA Individual Championships were 64 singles and 32 doubles entries will battle for their National Championships Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas.
