Gamecocks T-3rd in First Tournament Under Bradley

Carolina was one of five teams from the SEC in the top-five of the 16-team field at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate
LOUDON, Tenn. – South Carolina finished T-3rd with host Tennessee in what was a solid season debut this weekend at the Visit Knoxville Collegiate. The Gamecocks, who were playing in the first even under new head coach Rob Bradley, shot 836 (-4) on the par-70 layout at Tennessee National Golf Club.
The five teams in the top-five of the 16-team tournament all hailed from the Southeastern Conference.
All-American Nathan Franks shot 208 (-2), highlighted by an opening round 66 (-4) on Friday. He paced the team this week with a T-12th finish. The Roebuck, S.C., native had 10 birdies on his scorecard over 54 holes. Redshirt freshman Ismael Encinas finished T-12th as well at 2-over for the tournament. He competed as an individual this week in his Gamecock debut with scores of 67-71-70.
Junior Zach Adams, who is fresh off a round of 32 appearance at the U.S. Amateur in August, shot 68 (-2) final round today to lead the team as he also finished T-12th at 2-under for the tournament with a 54-hole total of 208. The Charleston, S.C., had 10 birdies on the week like Franks. Adams made the biggest leap up the leaderboard in the final round with a 13-spot jump today.
Sophomore transfer Brock Blais finished just outside the top-20 in his Gamecock debut. He shot even par with scores of 68-69-73. Redshirt junior Frankie Harris finished T-40th at 5-over. He opened with a first round 67 (-3) on Friday but was hurt by a 76 (+6) in round two on Saturday. Harris shot 72 (+2) today and led the team with 13 birdies on the week. Sophomore Bo Carpenter finished T-70th at 13-over.
