Goldsworthy Named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – South Carolina men’s soccer defender Andrew Goldsworthy was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference Tuesday (Sept. 10).

Goldsworthy, a fifth-year player from Bloomington, Ind., played all 90 minutes in Carolina’s 2-1 win over Belmont Saturday. He helped the Gamecock defense not allow a goal to the Bruins, as the lone goal came on a penalty kick.

He earned his first career point with an assist on Ethan Ballek’s goal in the 49th minute of the match.

Carolina hosts USC Upstate tonight at 7 p.m.
