Hall Takes Second at Wofford Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Freshman Ryan Hall earned runner-up medalist honors at the Wofford Invitational today playing as an individual after shooting 209 (-7) over 54 holes. It marks Hall’s spring debut, as he’s been sidelined with a wrist injury since early February.
 
“Coach (Bill) McDonald and I are very excited to see Ryan back in action,” said assistant coach Ben Dietrich. “He played some solid golf, with a lights-out 65 in the second round yesterday. This will be a good experience for him to build off of heading into the postseason.”
 
The Knoxville, Tenn., native shot 74 (+2) in cool, breezy conditions at Country Club of Spartanburg on Tuesday. Hall, who tied for the field lead with 17 birdies, was tied for the individual lead going into today’s final round at 9-under after posting under-par scores of 70 (-2) and 65 (-7) in the opening round on Monday. The second round 65 marked a new career, 18-hole low score by three shots. His runner-up finish marks his first career top-five.
 
Hall had a standout fall, starting all five tournaments with three top-20 finishes. He shot par or better seven times and posted a scoring average of 71.08, which ranked second on the team behind only senior Scott Stevens.
 
The 18^th-ranked Gamecocks return to action this weekend at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational (April 6-7). Teams will play 36-holes on Saturday at Forest Hills Golf Club with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ET. Click here for more info on the annual event.
