Kids Fest Highlights Promotional Events this Weekend

As part of the Gamecock Athletics’ Year of the Kid initiative, the track & field and beach volleyball programs will host a joint Kids Fest on Saturday, April 13, for kids 12 and under.
 
The track and field program opens its home outdoor schedule on Saturday as it hosts the Gamecock Invitational beginning at 9 a.m. The beach volleyball program will host Day 2 of the Palmetto Invitational with matches at 1 p.m. vs. UNCW and 5 p.m. vs. College of Charleston. Kids Fest activities kick off at 12 p.m. in the Athletics Village.
 
As part of Kids Fest, kids 12 and under will have the chance to:

  • Participate in tailgate games, including corn hole and ladder ball
  • Jump in the Gamecocks Bounce House
  • Get a Gamecock face tattoo
  • Grab some free giveaways and enter for the chance to win a kid’s prize pack

 
Beach volleyball will also host a Beach Party for both matches on Saturday. The first 100 kids 12 and under at the 1 p.m. match will receive a free popsicle, the first 100 fans will receive free leis, and all fans will have the chance to participate in a beach-themed promotion during the break of each match for the chance to win a prize.
 
The track and field program will also honor two Gamecock Legends, Miki Barber and Terrence Trammell, by retiring their jerseys with a special ceremony as part of the Gamecock Invitational at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
 
All Kids Fest activities, including the track and field and beach volleyball competitions, are free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the Heyward Street Garage, located at 1300 Heyward Street. Additional parking is available at the street-level spaces on Heyward, Marion, Whaley and Bull Streets.
