South Carolina’s men’s tennis team improved to 3-0 on the season with a doubleheader sweep on Sunday. The Gamecocks opened the day with a 7-0 victory over Davidson (2-2) before closing out the day with a 5-0 win over Charlotte (0-2).

Doubles victories by the teams of Angelo Niculescu/ Marcus Westman and Rob Cassidy/Nasir Sherazi gave the Gamecocks an early lead against Davidson. USC closed out the contest with six singles victories to land their 2nd straight 7-0 win. Victorious for the Gamecocks were Angelo Niculescu, Seth Rose, Marcus Westman, Rodrigo Pacheco, Ben Atkinson, and Rob Cassidy.

In the second match of the twin bill, South Carolina kept their unbeaten streak alive winning 5-0 against Charlotte with two matches being suspended. Solid doubles play again set the tone as the teams of Atkinson/Nelson and Pacheco/Rose pushed the Gamecocks off to a fast start. Singles play saw four South Carolina netters move to 3-0 in dual season play as Niculescu, Westman, Pacheco, and Atkinson all won in straight sets to continue their winning ways.

Now 19-0 in matches on the year, 3-0 overall, South Carolina will be back in action next Sunday with another doubleheader facing off against Wofford at 10:00 a.m. and closing out with a 4:00 p.m. contest against Winthrop.
