Gamecocks Drop Road Finale
ORLANDO, Fla. – The South Carolina men’s soccer team (9-4-2, 4-4) fell Friday night (Nov. 1) 4-0 at UCF (6-5-3, 4-4).
On the night, UCF led the Gamecocks 17-to-8 in shots, 9-to-3 in shots on goal, and 10-to-1 in corner kicks. Filip Versterre finished with four saves in goal for Carolina.
South Carolina pushed the tempo early, as it put up the first two shots of the match, including one by Harrison Myring that came on target in the 9th minute. From there, the Knights controlled the attack, taking eight shots in the first half and holding the Gamecocks without an attempt.
UCF scored in the 26th minute off a long pass and a shot that deflected off Carolina’s goalie. The Knights added to their lead with goals in the 57th, 79th and 80th minutes.
South Carolina returns home to host Georgia Southern for Senior Night November 5 at 7 p.m.
